親切的兒媳

　　喬納森（查爾斯·勞頓 Charles Laughton 飾）是紐約著名的大富豪，因為身患重病覺得自己命不久矣，他決定見一見自己的兒子約翰和他的未婚妻葛洛莉亞。不巧的是，葛洛莉亞因為意外而無法按時赴約，為了了卻父親的心愿，約翰找來了衣帽間工作的安妮（狄安娜·德賓 Deanna Durbin 飾），委托她冒充自己的未婚妻。讓約翰和安妮沒有想到的是，喬納森不僅對安妮十分的滿意，還因為心情愉悅而導致病癥轉好，恢復了健康。　　喬納森舉辦了一場盛大的晚宴來歡迎自己的準兒媳，還因為安妮喜愛音樂，而決定把她引薦給自己認識的音樂大師們。眼看著這一出鬧劇愈演愈烈，葛洛莉亞也因為知道了安妮的存在而妒火中燒。
