　　故事發生在清朝，蓓蓓公主（劉玉玲飾）由皇帝主婚，必須嫁給皇族親王，公主心里十萬分的不愿意。這時，不懷好意的英文教師安德魯看出了公主心意，慫恿她出逃美國。公主出逃后，安德魯留下了一封勒索信給皇帝，所要贖金十萬金條。　　這下皇帝慌了神，馬上派出三名大內高手帶上贖金前往美國營救公主。大內侍衛黃強（成龍飾）在公主出逃時曾見過她，不過并沒能攔下她，對公主一直不能忘懷。于是，他請求當翻譯的叔叔為他說請，讓他參與營救行動。侍衛隊長批準了他的請求，一行人正式踏上了美國。
