Surrounded by modern high-rises, this decrepit structure, with its brutalist architecture and peeling surfaces, is a relic from a dark period in history whose painful memories it has absorbed. In tracing Soriya’s ominous journey back to her roots, Tenement hints at a necessary reckoning with Cambodia’s political past without overplaying its historical dimension. It’s an impressive work from a woefully underrepresented national cinema.

 根據吳祖光話劇《正氣歌》改編。宋度宗年間, 元兵圍攻襄陽城. 右丞相賈似道隱瞞戰情, 宋將呂文煥被迫獨力守城, 長達三年之久. 此事終為度宗得悉, 秘書監文天祥奏請皇上將賈似道斬首. 賈似道虛報戰況, 反告文天祥誹謗之罪. 文天祥決意暫且歸隱, 假裝沉迷歌姬, 暗中聯合有志之士共商國策. 未幾, 呂文煥向元兵投降. 賈似道親率宋師迎敵, 結果戰敗, 被貶高州. 文天祥旋即獲封為右丞相, 奉召領兵出征, 卻被伯顏擄獲. 伯顏勸天祥投降, 天祥不允, 終被伯顏押返北京. 幸途中天祥得船夫余元慶舍命相助, 方能逃回真州. 期間, 文天祥遭人誣蔑為元人內奸, 被迫轉往溫州. 文天祥上奏益廣二王, 得以洗脫罪名, 再次統領宋師, 大敗元軍, 并獲封為信國公. 最后, 文天祥與元兵決戰于五坡嶺, 不幸又遭伯顏俘虜. 文天祥被囚三年, 寧死不降, 最終被元世祖下令處斬.
