　　湯姆·海韋是美國海軍陸戰(zhàn)隊的老兵，在1983年已是海軍陸戰(zhàn)隊服役最長的軍人之一。他曾參加過朝鮮戰(zhàn)爭和越南戰(zhàn)爭，并在朝鮮戰(zhàn)爭的傷心嶺獲得榮譽勛章。精銳部隊第一排需要第二排配合進行軍事訓練，海韋的任務就是對第二排的紀律進行整頓。他輕蔑地稱第二排的新兵為“太太”，而不服氣的新兵則常常使他下不來臺，海韋的私生活也不順利：在軍營附近當招待的妻子阿吉同他離了婚，海韋想同她重歸于好，卻遭到了阿吉的斷然拒絕。心中不快的海韋遂和前妻的新男友和電影下載女老板發(fā)生了爭執(zhí)。演習中，由海韋訓練的第二排打敗了第一排，士兵遂對其刮目相看。后來，海韋帶領第二排成功地解救出困在格林納達的美國公民，凱旋時受到了熱烈歡迎，這時，回心轉(zhuǎn)意的阿吉也和海韋重修舊好。

Ay?e, Ali, Mehmet and Zeynep are middle-class millennials struggling to make ends meet in Istanbul. Either still living with their parents or hardly getting by without help from their families, they are all beset by similar woes: money crunch, joblessness, social isolation. In view of the world’s horrors that Zeynep enumerates in her diary entries, these are minor problems, ‘slight disasters’, but they are all-consuming, at least to the extent of making them cry in the still of the night. 　　However, Umut Subasi’s first feature, Almost Entirely a Slight Disaster, is not a melodrama. With an appealingly light touch, it diagnoses the malaise of a generation that has run up against a dead end, one whose future prospects are indistinguishable from a game of chance. This is a world where astrology, the lottery and online personality tests compete with visa and job applications as life-shaping elements. 　　Fittingly, the film is structured around chance and coincidence, with its handful of characters encountering each other in every permutation, as though there were no world outside this small social bubble.
